Everyone Knows Kate From ‘The White Lotus’
During the third season of the hit HBO series The White Lotus, which will have a blowout season finale on Sunday, there’s been a great hullabaloo over the authenticity of Parker Posey’s Southern accent in her portrayal of North Carolina matriarch Victoria Ratliff. Some believe it’s put-on, over-the-top; others have defended the Mississippian, saying that some Southerners really do speak that way—especially the rich, pill-popping ones. She’s not the only member of the weird Ratliff clan to receive guff: Duke University is in a tizzy that Victoria’s husband, Timothy (Jason Isaacs) wears the school’s official T-shirt during some disturbing scenes.
