H-E-B’s Dream Melons Are the Only Summer Produce I Care About
On June 19, I got the text. “IT’S HERE IT’S HERE,” my colleague alerted me. I didn’t need any context; this was all we had been talking about for the past few weeks. H-E-B Dream Melons had finally hit stores for the summer. Since I took my first bite of the melons, last June, I had been wanting to share a meal with, shake hands with, and interrogate the farmer, whom I pictured as some sort of all-powerful fairy, tossing a shimmery substance onto melons to make them so juicy and delicious that mortals would fall to their knees in grocery aisles. I’ve always picked over cantaloupes and honeydews in beautiful, colorful fruit salads.
