As the days grow longer and summer looms, we hope you’re spending your little extra sunlight each evening turning the pages of a book. If you were reading along with us last month, you’ve just finished Attica Locke’s thrilling whodunit Bluebird, Bluebird. This month the Texas Book Club will be reading Selling Opportunity: The Story of Mary Kay, a new biography by Mary Lisa Gavenas released last week. In Selling Opportunity, Gavenas paints a compelling portrait of Ash’s upbringing in Houston’s Sixth Ward, where she first dreamed big, and then later of her launch of the Mary Kay brand from a tiny Dallas storefront.
