You could hop in the car, cruise down Highway 290, and stumble upon several tent-covered stands selling boxes of the  luscious fruit at its peak. But this year—and, in fact, for the last several years—the peach harvest is pitiful.Due to a warmer winter and an untimely March freeze, some farmers predict an output as low as 10 percent of the regular yield. “In farming, you know that these things are going to happen, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Jamey Vogel, owner of Vogel Orchard, which has been around since 1953.Vogel was three years old when his family first opened a roadside peach stand in Fredericksburg.
