My Favorite Texas Barbecue Bites of 2024

I’ve eaten well this year. The search for the best Texas-style barbecue joints outside Texas took me across the country for the first part of the year, and I spent the second half of 2024 exploring our state for the next Top 50 barbecue list, coming out next year. Some of the contenders for that new list are mentioned below, while restaurants in the current Top 50, as well as the 25 best new and improved joints from last year, aren’t included here because they’ve already enjoyed their exaltations.
