Majestic palm trees dot both sides of U.S. Highway 67 like a receiving line on the way into Presidio. The quiet border town, located on the Rio Grande near the south end of the Big Bend, is an hour’s drive southwest of Marfa. If you don’t turn into the heart of Presidio, that road will lead you straight across the Presidio-Ojinaga International Bridge into the Mexican state of Chihuahua.Many of those who’ve grown up in Presidio in recent years have left.
